About Malvern Hills
It’s an area of stunning landscapes and the Malvern Hills offer spectacular, panoramic views and is officially designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The main council offices are located in the town of Malvern and the council employs 180 people.
The current political makeup of the Council is as follows:
- Independent 14
- Conservative 13
- Green Party 5
- Liberal Democrat 5
- Labour 1
Councillor Sarah Rouse is the Leader of the Council.
The Council has set out its vision for the district in our Five Year Plan: our commitment to enhance the Malvern Hills District as a destination to explore and an outstanding place to live and work.
Our priorities cover three overarching themes:
- Our communities: delivering quality and affordable housing; improving people’s health and wellbeing; supporting and engaging with communities.
- Our economy: bringing forward land and premises for business to grow; developing the skills of our young people; promoting and developing the visitor experience of the Malverns; improving our infrastructure to support economic growth.
- Our environment: leading the district to become carbon neutral; reducing household waste and increasing recycling; improving the natural environment; improving the built environment.
